Post Hurricane Fishing Report

Last week, Hurricane Joaquin whipped through the mid atlantic region in a hurry and then made its way back out to sea.  With that system gone,  the crisp air and cooler water temperatures made conditions perfect for a day out on the water.

I headed out with some friends to the Outer Wall on October 9th, armed with green
crabs, targeting Tautog. It took some effort to pull the blackfish out of the deep rock crevices, but we quickly boated four nice keeper fish.  The fishing slowed down as the morning progressed, but there is nothing like taking home some thick Tog fillets for the dinner table.  If you are looking for a good fillet knife to purchase, I highly recommend this fillet knife.  It is great for cutting out the bones, without missing too much meat.

Back on land, I also went panfishing with nightcrawlers at Noxontown Lake and the Appoquinimink River in Middletown, Delaware.  Big white perch were plentiful, as well as bluegill.  I am looking forward to the big Striper run that should follow next month and also some fall trout fishing in the Pennsylvania mountains.  Wouldn't head out into the water without my Orvis Waders.
