Late Fall Fishing

The weather in recent days has been unseasonably warm in Delaware.  With temperatures still around 70 degrees, the ice cream trucks are still running their neighborhood routes.  All this makes for good fishing opportunities.

With Tautog action starting to wind down in the Delaware Bay, the focus moves toward Striped Bass fishing.  28 to 50 inch range fish are being reported.  The bigger rockfish are caught by trolling large colorful Lures

I've fished the local spillway for panfish a few times and caught one hungry largemouth bass down state, as well.  White and Yellow perch fishing has also been excellent and Shad are in the rivers too.  Anglers should expect fall Rainbow Trout fishing to continue to be productive on White Clay Creek.

Before I sign off, I'd like to share this video about fishing for survival food.  With the economy hurting, more and more families are fishing to supplement their monthly food supply.  While you have to be careful not to eat fish from badly polluted bodies of water, panfish tend to absorb less toxins. Be sure to trim away the fat deposits and skin before cooking your fish fillets and follow the fish consumption advisory published by the state of Delaware.  Without further ado, here is the link to the youtube video  Catching and Eating Fish For Survival.
